The Graphic Design program at Charleston Southern prepares students for a broad variety of careers in the field of design. Beginning with modest studio art skills the program quickly moves students into our Mac Labs where they will master many programs within the Adobe platform. This includes Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver and more.
Students will work to develop their portfolios throughout the Graphic Design program. While certain basic components are required by all students, during the Junior and Senior years opportunities will be given for students to specialize in a particular branch of design they hope to use for future career interests. This might include: print design, illustration, web design or photography.
Along the way students learn more than just software skills but also develop a deep appreciation for the design profession as a cultural influencer that integrates a moral framework into all their design work. They will have the chance to visit real-world design agencies and hear from guest speakers who hold influence in a variety of creative industries.
